HOWEL! - Halloween in the Old West End Lanternfest 2021

October 30, 2021
2:00 PM - 8:30 PM

HOWEL 2021 is a free community festival and hosts activities for the whole family – the first portion of the event will include children’s activities, museum tours, vendor booths, opportunities to engage with community nonprofits, local artists, and craft demonstrations. The event will transition to a lively evening with fire dancing performances, the lighting of the lanterns, a band, and dancing. Children can enjoy face painting and games by Smokestack Theatre and a pumpkin painting contest (pumpkin carving for adults). Costume contests for both youth and adult entries are eligible to win prizes! Grizzly’s Hatchet House will host lanes on-site for hatchet throwing! The event is co-hosted by five area nonprofits: BookEnds (formerly Friends of the Library), Dan River Nonprofit Network, Smokestack Theatre Company, Danville Museum of Fine Arts & History, and Friends of the Old West End. Many thanks to our presenting sponsor, URW Credit Union. Other partners include Grace & Main Fellowship, Crema & Vine, and the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research – and the list keeps growing! If you are interested in partnering or sponsoring the event, contact info@howeldanville.com. While this event is primarily held outdoors, we do encourage attendees to be fully vaccinated and/or to wear a mask.
