Friday Night Try-it Wheel Sessions

December 3, 2021
4:30 PM - 5:45 PM

Try pottery wheel throwing for a couple or a couple of friends! Always wanted to try pottery wheel throwing but didn’t want to commit to a multi-week class? Here’s your chance! No commitment or expectations. In this very intimate workshop with just two participants, you will get a demonstration and instructions, then it’s just you, the wheel, and the clay to make one or two pots. If there’s a surviving pot, we will trim and glaze it for you to pick up in a couple of weeks. Bring a friend or date and have a very relaxed evening making ceramic art! Considerations for wheel throwing: Pottery is messy. You could bring an old hand towel and apron or old shirt. Long hair should be tied back for safety. LONG FINGERNAIL ALERT: Just be aware that there are limitations when throwing with long nails. Pots will be gouged or ruined. There is also a slim chance that a nail could become caught underneath the wheel and that would not be fun.

Christmas on the Plaza

December 3, 2021
5:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Come celebrate the holiday season on Main Street Plaza, by the fountain, with festive cookies and hot chocolate, entertainment, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and best of all...a tree lighting ceremony! Enjoy a sneak peek at Smokestack Theater Company's production "It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play," and songs from the Averett Singers and The Danville Area Choral Arts Society! From 7:30-9 we'll have a special performance by The League of Ordinary Gentlemen. After you enjoy some time on the Plaza, head down the Riverwalk to take in the sites and sounds of the Luminaria Walk, organized by Danville Parks and Recreation. We can't wait to see you there.
