River District Association Announces Leadership Transition

For Immediate Release

DANVILLE, Va. (Sept. 4, 2026) — The River District Association (RDA) today announced that Executive Director Tina Leone will step down from her position effective Sept. 4, as she leaves to pursue a new professional opportunity.

Leone joined the River District Association as executive director in January 2026. During her tenure, she focused on strengthening relationships with community partners and stakeholders while working with the board and staff to develop an organizational work plan and establish priorities for RDA’s continued growth.

“We are grateful to Tina for the time and energy she has invested in the River District Association during her tenure and wish her the best as she begins her next chapter,” said Kunal Patel, president of the RDA Board of Directors.

The RDA Board of Directors has launched a comprehensive executive search to identify the organization’s next leader. In the meantime, the board and staff remain committed to continuing RDA’s work and ensuring a smooth transition throughout the search process.

The River District Association remains focused on its mission of supporting a vibrant, welcoming and thriving River District. The board will provide additional information regarding next steps when available.
